Our next will be the second flight of our "Fly With Us" campaing, in which we provide launch opportunity for payloads using our ballon platform.
The previous flight was in the Hungarian Space Camp and the payload was various messages from the campers packed with the flag of the host town of the camp. This was the first flight we used active flight termination due to the unpleasant predicted flight route.
Our next flight is a request from a local radio station. Their idea was to fly something "Hungarian" to the space with a balloon, and they have found us.
There was a vote among the audience which significantly Hungarian thing should be flying. The winner was "Lángos with sour cream and cheese"
Which is a typical beach food here in Hungary.
Due to the properties of the sour cream and the short schedule we decided to use practical film tricks and substitute the sour cream with some nice looking adhesive to provide sturctural integrity for the payload. Also we applied conformal coating which hardened the base dough of the 'lángos'.
We will also add our multispectral remote sensing camrea - UPRACAM as sciece payload, which will take pictures in visible and near infrared region.
Our team had an opportunity for a thermal test in one of Hungary's coolest small satellite company C3S LLC using professional lab equipment. During the test we inspected the behavour of the 'lángos' and also tested the capabilities of the remote sensing camera and the GoPro which will record the flight of the 'lángos'.
The test artifact was cooled down to -50°C (-58°F) in the thermal chamber, and both the camreas and the 'lángos' performed well during the test.
The flight will be on 12th August (next monday) and the launch will be at the top of the radio station. There will be live stream of the start and we will be live in the monring radio show.
