We'd like to introduce Loonar Technologies - a new high-altitude balloon startup that sells kits to educators and hobbyists. Loonar kits let you spend your time building the part of your payload you actually want to build, whether you’re an expert or have never launched a balloon before. The kits provide the ideal platform to hack on top of: a GPS that work at altitude, data-logging, video recording, flight termination, and two-way satellite and radio communications. The data flows into an advanced mission control suite to let you analyze your data, predict the landing location, and send commands back to the balloon again. While it works right out of the box -- just add helium -- there are broken out GPIO pins and open source flight code so that you can leverage the infrastructure in a familiar Arduino environment. With Loonar, you fly what you want, whether that’s a video camera, a geiger counter, or a picture of yourself to get a selfie at 80,000 feet. Check out the website at https://loonar.tech for more information on the kits! Test flights will be completed with the next few weeks. The kits will ship in time for customers launching during GSBC 2018, and will be very competitive in price compared to what's on the market now.
