The results are in!
Congrats to Team Levitate (1st place) and Team SSOK and KWU (2nd place). And big thank you to this year's current sponsors for this prize: High Altitude Science, Uputronics, and Sent Into Space
First Place: Team Levitate
See more info here.
We are the space crew of Space System Lab, School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Regardless of one’s background, cultures, religions, and country, we strongly believe that
every child has the right to get an advanced education especially in the field of Aerospace. This year around, the Levitate USM has designed a movement called the Space Connect 2018 and we stand together with the 36 of us
altogether to make the dreams come true. With the theme: "Space Connects People" we have reached nearly 1000 the underprivileged students in the rural areas, the orphanages, the disabled students and as well as the autistic students to encourage their interest in Science
Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field through Space Technology. We believed that these schools deserve the same privilege as we are to prove that we will never leave anyone behind.
This year they win:
* Eagle Flight Computer from HAS
* Pi in the Sky from Uputronics
* HAB Kit from Sent Into Space
Second Place: Team SSOK and KWU
Sky Science Over Kansas (SSOK) a group of individuals located in central Kansas interested in HAB experimenting, partnered with Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU), a small private liberal arts college
located in Salina, Kansas for the 2018 Global Space Balloon Challenge.
Physics, math, and computer students, along with SSOK members constructed a HAB payload which profiled atmospheric CO2 gas from surface to 100,000 feet. This data is being used to initiate a community discussion
about CO2 greenhouse gas levels that were collected locally.
This year they win:
* 600g balloon and 1m parachute from HAS

Their mission is to bring the wonder of space a little closer for everyone. Their school projects, near-space stunts and and DIY kits have inspired hundreds to try their hand at launching a near space flight. In support of the Global Space Balloon Challenge, Sent Into Space are offering participants a discount on balloons from their website: GSBC18 will give 15% off any balloon purchased on our site from the 1st of March to the 30th of April. GSBC30 will give 30% off our Pawan 1200g balloons purchased in the same date window.
Uputronics are proud to sponsor the 2018 GSBC. Founded by Anthony Stirk a UK based high altitude balloonist, Uputronics have been supplying components and trackers to the high altitude community worldwide since 2012. Uputronics also host and supply the servers that tun the UKHAS tracking network. We originally started just selling UBlox GPS modules but now have a large range of radios, GPS breakout boards and the Habudino and Pi In The Sky trackers. Backed up with open source software we encourage people to use High Altitude ballooning as an educational resource. Our Habduino and Pi In The Sky products are designed and manfacturered in the UK but have flown worldwide.
